Hotel Palifornia is such a lovely base as it takes it to the skies of the Palpagos Islands. Palworld player MidnightWatcher139 built this masterpiece to give the Pals the ultimate resort experience, and there’s undoubtedly more than enough room for any number of creatures. Those staying on the top floor will see a spectacular view of the greenery.

After a bit of a wait, a new trailer in March finally gave us the release date for Death Stranding 2. As cryptic and unusual trailers are a staple of the series, that got us thinking about how it compared to previous trailers. We did some investigative work to figure out where the game’s main trailers stack up as far as being entirely confusing and strange.

9. 2019 Release Date Trailer (DS1)

The trailer that revealed the release date kind of felt like the end of some of the weirdness, and instead, it leveled with viewers. Rather than offer a bunch of story bits that feel like a jumbled-up jigsaw puzzle, you get an actual stream of story information. You also get a sense of the threats in that it shows the BTs and actual combat with yellow-suit thugs.

The Legend of Heroes is one of the longest-running JRPG franchises out there, but it really found its groove with the Trails series. When it comes to realizing the ultimate power fantasy, nothing quite comes close to the 1v1,000 combat that the Dynasty Warriors series delivers. Take your pick of a general, get onto the battlefield, and eliminate all that stand in your way – it’s always a satisfying ride. However, the series has undergone some recent changes, and going into a hands-on session of Dynasty Warriors: Origins at Tokyo Game Show 2024, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.

What Omega Force and Koei Tecmo have put together is a refreshed formula that retains that classic feel of the series, but infused with new but meaningful changes to help enhance your enjoyment on the battlefield. As part of the demo, it was time to take on the Battle of Sishui Gate against the forces of Dong Zhuo, and taking down his leading generals, Li Jue and Hua Xiong, meaning I was in for a tough fight.

The Like a Dragon series has never shied away from the ridiculous, even in its early days, but not even the most ardent of fans would have expected something like Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. A spin-off starring Goro Majima that takes place after Infinite Wealth, players will be diving into high-sea shenanigans and trying to help the anti-hero get back on his feet again after losing his memory.

While the details of that narrative will be something that will take the spotlight when the game is out in the wild, the time I had with the game at Tokyo Game Show was all about showing off the various activities and areas that will likely suck up all your time once more.

Frostpunk 2 Review on PC

As my city of New London burns and the people revolt over years of conflicting policies gone awry, I’m already mulling over how I want to approach my next Frostpunk 2 run.

The last one, probably my 11th or 12th overall, went well until I hit a devastating stretch of cold seasons. Each one tore through my resources in a matter of months, and before long I was faced with day after day of complaints about scarcity and heat problems.

Originally released in 2006, Dead Rising quickly solidified itself as a zombie fan favorite, spawning multiple sequels and a following ready to rival The Walking Dead. Now, 18 years later, Capcom has rewarded us all with a remastered update of the game that started it all.

It is safe to say that the biggest update in the game is the graphics. With 18 years comes incredible advancements in animation, and Capcom did not skip out on making sure we could see every reaction and emotion on not only Frank’s face, but on every NPC’s too. While the original game still holds up well, the graphics overhaul was well worth the time and makes the gore that bit more visceral, which you definitely want in a modern zombie game. Especially when taking them down with a skateboard or golf putter is still very much an option.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU on PlayStation 5

The Metroidvania genre is full of gems that have strong gameplay foundations, keeping players engaged in whichever world they find themselves in, and incentivizing them to keep coming back for more. That said, not many of them feature stories that touch upon more poignant themes that require more emotional investment from the player. This is where Surgent Studios’ Tales of Kenzera: ZAU shines brightly, even if there are several issues that dim its brilliance along the way.

With the central core of the story being about the love of a father and son, players will join Zuberi, a child who is now mourning the loss of his father, in the distant future. That sense of loss is profound, and the only way to placate the unnerving swell of emotions is through a book written by his father, of a shaman called Zau who is facing the same predicament in the lands of Kenzera. Yet, the healer is able to strike a deal with the God of Death, Kalunga. By overcoming three lost ancestral spirits, Zau wants the deity to bring his Baba back from the dead.

Players should have had enough time to enjoy Rise of the Ronin’s excellent story and gameplay by now. That means it might be time to decide what to play next.
